The Pokémon Legends titles are the more experimental series that Game Freak has been exploring over the past few years. It started with Pokémon Legends Arceus, which had players exploring the distant past and creating the first Pokédex. After that came Pokémon Legends Z-A, which introduced new battle mechanics to the series, finally allowing players to battle alongside their Pokémon. According to leaks, the next title in the series will be Pokémon Legends Galar, and it will add Pikmin-like mechanics to the game.
Pokémon Legends Galar Adds Pikmin-Like Mechanics to the Series
Recently, a Pokémon leaker by the name of Light_88 on X posted about the next Legends title in the Pokémon series. According to the leaker, the next title will be Pokémon Legends Galar. The leak contained some tidbits of information about the upcoming title. The information included is:
- It is set in the Galar region from Pokémon Sword and Shield.
- It is set 1,000 years before the invention of Pokéballs.
- The game will focus on “Pokémon behavior, group dynamics, and environmental interaction.”
- You will “form wild alliances with Pokémon to battle massive Dynamax foes.”
Along with this, the leaker added that Pokémon Legends Galar will be “a Pikmin-like game where you command groups of up to 30 Pokémon.” The images added back this up, with one showing a trainer fighting a Dynamaxed Coalossal with a team consisting of a Machamp, a Pikachu, and six Starly. Another image shows a trainer alongside a group consisting of Gardevoir, Mr. Mime, five Bidoof, a Pikachu, and a few other Pokémon. The Pokémon they are after seems to be Golem, but it is unconfirmed.
According to the leaker, the objective of this new Legends title will be to “craft the first Gigamax Pokéball using ancient technology.” This seems to be an odd objective since part of the leak states that this game takes place long before the invention of Pokéballs. If correct, the game will be released in 2028, but it could be later.
