Xbox Gets a New Boot-Up Sound Next Week

It’s not a secret that Xbox has been going through a transition period ever since Asha Sharma took over the Microsoft branch just a couple of months ago. Between leadership changes, Game Pass price reductions, and axing Copilot for consoles, things are definitely looking different for Xbox, and that’s about to extend into how the console looks and sounds when you power it up. Today, Sharma revealed a new boot-up sound featuring the recently introduced reworked Xbox logo. An update will go live next week that implements this change.

Xbox Series X New Boot-Up Sound

Overall, the new Xbox boot-up is honestly very similar to what’s been in place for the Xbox Series X since it launched in 2020. The sound remains an atmospheric chime that some people might even think is the same if they don’t hear them back-to-back, but they are different. The new logo is also doing the same appearing-out-of-the-dark act that the bland white logo does now.

Everything considered, this isn’t really a change that fixes anything; it just feels like a change for the sake of changing things. A way for Xbox to further say that it is under new management after the departure of Phil Spencer and Sarah Bond. As much as they want to say that, though, there are still massive questions and concerns about what the future looks like.

That all said, though, the direction of Xbox under Sharma appears to be markedly different. Of course, that is easy to say after just two months. We are still unsure of what the future looks like when it comes to first-party exclusives, the management of those development teams, and whether or not most people will even have the means of purchasing the next console, Project Helix.
