Take Two Affirms Grand Theft Auto VI Price Hours Before Pre-Orders Go Live

The price of Grand Theft Auto VI has been a hot topic since the game was revealed over two years ago. Since then, rumors have run rampant, with many making outlandish statements about the game’s level of detail, story, and more. Of course, the biggest talking point has been the game’s price. Many have said that with the level of detail Rockstar will undoubtedly add to GTA VI, the game will easily sell for upwards of $100 for the standard edition.

Many have complained about the price increase for standard games, which saw prices rise to $70. Nintendo pushed this further by releasing Mario Kart World for $80 on the Nintendo Switch 2. This, along with increased prices of consoles, has sparked fears of further price increases for games. However, the worry about Grand Theft Auto VI’s price has been put to bed, as Take Two has confirmed the cost of the title hours before the pre-orders are to go live.

Take Two Confirms $80 Price Tag for GTA VI

Fans have speculated many things about the price of GTA VI, with there being a debate whether the game would be $80, $100, or even upwards of $120 at launch. Many have stated that Rockstar would be the only company that could realistically get away with a $100 price tag for the base version of a game. Luckily, you won’t need to worry about this, as Take Two has confirmed the base price of GTA VI will be $80. This is higher than the average game, but not as absurd as some have thought.

In a post on Take Two’s website, the company stated, “Launching November 19, 2026, for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S for $79.99, Grand Theft Auto VI features a single-player experience set in the biggest, most immersive evolution of the series yet.”

The post also confirmed that there will be an ultimate edition of the game that will retail for $99.99. This will include “an exclusive collection of premium vehicles, weapons, apparel, and action threaded across all aspects of Jason and Lucia’s story.” Additionally, pre-orders will come with the Vintage Vice City Pack – “a collection of items that flash back to when the neon burned brightest.” Those who pre-order the game digitally will get a “free month of GTA+” as well.

Pre-orders for GTA VI will begin at midnight local time.
