To many, Stardew Valley is a cozy farming simulator that is used to escape the stresses of everyday life. Recently, Stardew Valley’s creator Eric Barone, also known as ConcernedApe, hinted at a rather controversial romance mechanic he wants to implement into the game in the near future.
She Loves Me Not
Stardew Valley is a title that already features a robust romance and marriage system that lets the player date romantically available NPCs that’s held in high regard by many. But it is that same feature that Eric Barone is looking to flip on its head as he voiced his desire to add a little adultery into the mix.
In an interview held with Game Informer, Barone explained how he thinks players should be allowed to do some immoral things while in the valley. He said he’s open to introducing romance features that could go on to break up some of the town’s pre-established marriages, but doing so would surely have “very serious consequences.” It is worth noting that this is not the first time that Barone has brought up this idea. While on the TigerBelly podcast, he said, “I would like you to be able to marry Robin or Demetrius and break up their marriage and cause chaos in the town, but have all the consequences of that.”
The Talk of the Town
Since this is the second time in which Erice Barone has brought up the idea of being a bit of a homewrecker in the valley fans think this feature will surely be added into the game at some point. The idea of cheating or romancing married NPCs in Stardew Valley is one that normally wouldn’t come to mind when talking about this cozy farming sim, but I for one love drama and this is exactly what the doctor ordered.
