Another Price Hike Has Hit Specific PlayStation 5 Consoles

It is a story that we have heard far too many times in the last year. It seems that prices have increased consistently, and there is no end in sight for it. Previously, Microsoft announced price hikes for the Xbox Series X/S consoles, and it didn’t take long for Sony to follow up with price increases for the PlayStation 5. This wasn’t the first price increase, and it certainly isn’t the last, as more PlayStation 5 consoles are starting to see price increases.

It certainly isn’t an easy time to be a gamer, as the price of RAM and CPUs has skyrocketed, games are getting more expensive, and console prices are uncontrollable. If you were hoping to get a PS5 system for less, unfortunately, even the refurbished systems are receiving a price increase.

Refurbished PS5 Prices Increase

Spotted on May 1, the cost of refurbished PlayStation 5 systems has risen. More specifically, the cost of the PS5 slim model has seen a price increase. Previously, the system with the disc drive was priced at $449.99. The digital-only version of the console was priced at $399.99. With the cost of a standard new PS5 being $599.99, this was a great discount.

The new price of the systems, however, is now $549.99 for the console with the disc drive, and $499.99 for the digital-only version of the console. This is a $100 price increase from what the consoles were previously priced. As usual, both consoles come with all the necessary hardware, a 1TB SSD, and a controller.

The price of the refurbished systems is still a small amount cheaper than the new versions, but the price increase is an undeniable slap in the face to gamers who are already having a tough time with all the price increases. Thankfully, you can still get a refurbished original PS5 for $399.00, but there may be fewer systems being sold thanks to these price increases.
