The Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag remake was arguably the worst kept secret in gaming and rumors of this title have been ever so present. Today the remake was finally given a subtle nod by Ubisoft with a cryptic message being included in a wave of updates centered around the Assassin’s Creed franchise.
Time to Set Sail
Ubisoft recently released a full update on the Assassin’s Creed franchise which includes a wide range of games, TV shows and much more. Among those updates Ubisoft snuck in a bit of key art that reveals the title of ‘Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced’.
The newly appointed head of content at Ubisoft, Jean Guesdon discussed rumors that surrounded titles such as Assassin’s Creed Hexe and the long rumored standalone multiplayer project titled Invictus. He also hinted that “speculation around Assassin’s Creed is not new,” and subtly suggested that everything you read online is entirely true. However, Guesdon did say there may be a slight exception to that rule stating “some whispers have a little more wind in their sales,” and told fans to “keep your spyglass on the horizon,” followed by an aptly placed parrot emoji.
A Pirate’s Life For Me!
Rumors surrounding a Black Flag remake have been circulating various leak channels since the summer of 2023. Such leaks and rumors range from the occasional insider report to figurine manufactures displaying brand new artwork centered around the game itself.
Despite all those breadcrumbs, fans of Black Flag have yet to have any true word to sink their teeth into up until today. With this, marking the first official time that a senior figure at Ubisoft acknowledged the game’s existence, it’s only a matter of time before we strike gold with a reveal trailer. For now, fans can only gawk at the newly revealed key art, which depicts the game’s main protagonist, Edward Kenway, positioned just above the game’s new logo, and hold out hope that a trailer is truly on the horizon.
