Best Meme Award

The video game community is a thriving, creative, funny group to be a part of. In 2023 especially, the memelords have been thriving. We’ve had unforgettably bad games to hate-watch, beautiful low-graphic goofball adventures, and memes that have taken a life of their own outside of their respective titles. No matter which kind of gaming humor you prefer, it’s been a stellar year for making inside jokes with your fellow gamers. But which of these memeable games has had the biggest impact this year?

Nominations:

The Lord of The Rings: Gollum

Baldur’s Gate 3

Resident Evil 4

Genshin Impact

Pizza Tower

Lethal Company

Fortnite

And 2023’s meme award goes to…. None other than Lethal Company. While it’s hard to beat out the absolute powerhouse of Baldur’s Gate 3, there’s something special about a fun, janky game where friends can come together and die in terrible ways. All the options on this list have their own charms, from cheese puns to Oratrice Mecanique d’Analyse Cardinale. But the Lethal Company has taken the latter part of 2023 by storm. Not only has it gifted us with side-splitting clips, but also brought beloved gamer friends together right in time for the holidays. Just keep convincing your loved ones to play doorbell chicken at the drop-off station and you’ll be blessed with your next hilarious death.
