On April 10, Amazon released its live adaptation of the Fallout franchise, which was highly praised by critics and fans alike. Nearly a month after the show’s release, fans have been revisiting all their favorite Fallout games in what seems to be a renaissance of the franchise’s popularity. Only eight days after the show’s release date, amazon greenlit the series for a second season. The first season was great, but there is so much more Fallout Season 2 can show us. With that in mind, here are five things we would love our favorite wasteland-wanderers to encounter during their second-season adventures—warning: spoilers ahead.
Things we want to see in Fallout Season 2
1. The Enclave
A very important MacGuffin throughout the Fallout series is the head of Dr. Wilzig. Early in the series, we learn that Wilzig fled from the enclave and contained the formula for cold fusion in his head. Aside from the few scenes displaying Wilzig’s backstory, the enclave isn’t seen and is only mentioned rarely throughout the early episodes.
With the end of the first season, NCR leadership is displaced, and the Brotherhood of Steel is in a position to claim the power of cold fusion for themselves. It would be interesting to see a conflict between a vengeful-driven Enclave trying to retrieve the energy source from the Brotherhood of Steel and a reluctant Maximus as their figurehead.
2. More Creatures
Something that felt absent from the Fallout show was the variety of creatures. Viewers were treated to appearances by Roaches, a Yao Guai, a Gulper, and Brahm, but the creatures felt too far and few in between. Is there a more effective way to demonstrate a nuclear wasteland than having our favorite characters fight monstrous beasts? Some of our favorite memories from the Fallout franchise are running away from Deathclaws in the Mojave and fending off the Mirelurk Queen in the Commonwealth! With the Deathclaw skull seen at the finale’s end, we hope that season two will feel a little more monstrous.
3. Super Mutants
In episode two, we had a small glimpse of what could have been a super mutant cameo when a gurney with a green hand sticking out was pushed past Dr.Wilzig during his backstory. Season one deals a lot with ghouls, specifically, The Ghoul, Cooper Howard. Hopefully, the series can highlight the other mutated species in season two. Maybe our favorite protagonists will encounter them during their travels.
4. RobCo Industries/New Vegas
In the season finale, during the Vault-Tec meeting scene, we glimpse Mr. House, the man in charge of RobCo Industries. The episode ends with Hank MacLean fleeing to what appears to be New Vegas. New Vegas and RobCo Industries are intertwined. Before the bombs dropped, Mr. House allocated a large portion of his wealth to preserve the city, which is the central location of Fallout: New Vegas. Season two takes place 15 years after Fallout: New Vegas events, so there’s a high chance that the series cements the game ending and the courier’s choices into the canon. Additionally, with the NCR in shambles in California, what does this mean for the remnants of the NCR in the Mojave?
5. Liberty Prime
The end of season one sets up the Brotherhood as an even bigger entity for Fallout Season 2. With Moldaver gone, the NCR seems to be in shambles. Aside from the last few NCR rangers and maybe Cooper Howard, this leaves the Brotherhood with almost no opposition. Whether or not the Enclave appears in season two, the Brotherhood must find some way to assert their new-found monopoly over the California wasteland. What better way to do this than a season two finale, teasing a cold fusion-powered Liberty Prime?
