When it comes to Marvel villains, there are not many as fondly remembered as Venom from the Spider-Man series. The symbiote is a hulking danger when he is hungry, and you can expect him to come up at some point in just about any story that involves the webhead. That is the case in Insomniac’s Spider-Man 2 game. The symbiote has appeared, but what about those of us who want to control this villain? Can you play as Venom in Spider-Man 2?

Is Venom playable in Spider-Man 2?
While he is not playable in the open world, there are moments when you can play as Venom in Spider-Man 2 during a main story mission. For all of the time you will spend swapping between Peter and Miles, you play as Venom for probably a total of 20 minutes in the game. It’s not very long, but you can have some fun in combat with the character. You play in a linear section fighting hunter enemies, ending in a boss fight against Kraven the Hunter. Once this is finished, you never get access to Venom again.
If you played the original game or paid attention to the opening cutscenes, you know that Harry Osbourne is Venom. You also probably know that Peter eventually gets the symbiote and has the black suit, which has been a focal point in the game’s marketing. After some time, Harry will get it back and re-enter as Venom.
If you have experienced Venom in past Spider-Man stories, you know that the symbiote does quite a bit of jumping around until it finds a host it sticks with long-term.
