There is no denying that Appalachia is full of dangers. If you want to survive in Fallout 76, you will need to know these tips and tricks to keep you alive. Of course, these aren’t just any tips and tricks. These are the unwritten rules that many players follow in Appalachia to keep themselves from getting in each other’s ways. With these tips and tricks, you will be on your way to surviving Appalachia in style and hopefully gain a few friends along the way. These tricks come straight from the community so be sure to thank your fellow Vault Dwellers the next time you are wandering the wasteland.
Fallout 76 community tips and tricks
A group of Vault Dwellers got together and started creating a list of tips and tricks or unwritten rules for Fallout 76 to help out the new players that flooded into Appalachia after the success of the Fallout TV show. This list, started by user Artikuna1, has since received many great tips that we thinks are necessary for new players to know if they want to have fun with others in Appalachia. So let’s break these down.
What to do about naked players
If you ever see a naked player run up to you and they have a wanted level, shoot them on sight. When a player does this, it means that they want to remove their wanted level. The only means of doing this is to have someone kill you and collect the bounty. Think of this as a free way to get some extra Caps that you don’t need to work very hard for. The player will often thank you and might even give you an item in return so do your fellow Vault Dweller a favor and shoot ’em dead.
Turn off your mic when not in use
This one should be pretty obvious but it’s something that many people forget. If you aren’t using your mic to talk to someone, turn it off. There are many players who are trying to enjoy the game and listening to someone shouting to another person in the room isn’t very fun. There are mentions of some players walking in on others who are singing in their bases. While this is amusing, it can also be embarrassing.
Be polite, wave back
There are many players in the lobby who are just trying to be nice. Sure, you will occasionally get someone who is rude but most just want to have a good time. If you see another player waving at you, be sure to wave back. Who knows, you might end up making a friend because of this simple gesture and it would lead to a great team.
Not your card? Don’t start the event
There are two events in the game that require the use of a special card. These events are Seismic Activity and Encryptid. Both require a player to craft a special card to activate the event which costs a decent amount of materials and around 2,000 Caps. It is proper etiquette to join the event once it has started but if you aren’t the one with the card, don’t start the event. Let the cardholder do the honor.
Stop with decontamination showers
Decontamination showers are great to have in your camp if you regularly want to decontaminate yourself after exploring Appalachia. You shouldn’t however, have one set up as a requirement to enter your camp. There are several builds that require a high level of radiation and forcing someone to decontaminate can ruin their build and make them need to gather all of those Rads all over again.
Turn off lights if the prices are high
Since the addition of the Wastelanders DLC, players have been able to create vendors at their camps. This allows players to sell items to others and make some money off their hard work. However, there are some players who like to make their prices a bit too high. If this is the case, let them know by turning the lights off in their camp. You can also feel free to drop a “You have been insulted” note in their camp along with some spoiled food.
Don’t be greedy with free stuff
Some people will leave out punch bowls, Nuka-Cola machines, or candy bowls. Items in these are typically free to take and will gift you candy or fizzy beverages to aid you on your journey. Don’t be greedy and take all of these. Many players like to keep taking until they are full and leave nothing for the next person. Be kind, take only a few, and leave plenty for everyone.
