Overwatch 2 is no stranger to running into issues now and then. From server issues to heroes and maps seeing various bugs and being removed from the game, quite a few problems have appeared in the game’s life. Another issue that has popped up recently is players on PC clicking play in their Battle.net launcher and being left with a “playing now” message, but nothing happens after. Here is how to fix the stuck on playing now error in Overwatch 2.
What to do when Overwatch 2 is stuck on playing now
If you are stuck seeing the playing now error in Overwatch 2, you should start by exiting the launcher, restarting your PC, and trying it again. Check the game for updates and scan for repairs if you still see it. Both options are under the gear icon next to the playing now button. If your Battle.net Launcher also has an update, restart and update it, just in case.
If the above simple fixes don’t work, you should check your graphics card drivers for updates. Go to Device Manager in your Control Panel and select your graphics card under Display Adapters. Right-click it, and select Update Driver. You can have your PC automatically search for updates, but if you don’t trust it, you can also go to the manufacturer’s website and manually look for an update.
Next, it is time to consider a full reinstallation for Overwatch 2. Uninstall and reinstall the game in case your scan and repair process missed something. Now that you are running things from a base standpoint, the stuck on playing now error shouldn’t bother you.
If that didn’t fix your problem, it’s time to start getting a little drastic. In the Battle.net launcher, select the gear icon and go to Game Settings. Under the Overwatch 2 Game Settings, select Reset In-Game Options. This will rewrite all of your previous in-game settings to default. It might be annoying, but hopefully, it will fix a possible display issue preventing your game from showing.
If none of the above has fixed your error, we recommend getting in contact with Blizzard Support directly.
