Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Zombies is the first time the sub-series is invaded by the undead. While many CoD players are dedicated to this side mode in past games, things are quite different this time around. MW3 Zombies is open world this time around, feeling pretty similar to DMZ in some ways. With that in mind, how close to that other mode does MWZ get? Is there PvP in Modern Warfare 3 Zombies?
Does MW3 Zombies have PvP?
No, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Zombies does not have PvP. While there are up to 24 people in the game, there is a sole focus on PvE here. You will be working alongside people who are in your squad, as well as random players that the matchmaker put in your game. The common and special zombies are the enemy here, so work together as you move inward on the map.
With Zombies expanding to include more people this time around, there are undoubtedly newcomers looking for a new DMZ experience. While MW3’s take on the mode has similarities, it is definitely not PvP. We like that the mode hasn’t adapted that extra competitive factor. While past additions to Zombies have tested fighting other players, it has never been implemented successfully. With zombies being everywhere, adding other players as hostile would either be overwhelming or take away the focus on the zombies themselves.
Of course, there is always a chance that a future update could bring PvP to Modern Warfare 3 Zombies. While we are glad it’s not here at launch, it would be good to see some experimentation with this format to see if players fighting would be better. Given how we don’t expect many mode updates this year, that could be an interesting wrinkle on MW3 Zombies.
