Minecraft’s newest mob included in the Trails and Tales update is the Sniffer. This passive creature is as peaceful as they come. After essentially being extinct, you can find them hidden away in Warm Water Ruins. Hatch them on dry land to open up the game and get access to ancient items hidden beneath the dirt. What about breeding and healing them, though? Here is what Sniffers eat in Minecraft.
What to feed Sniffers in Minecraft
What do Sniffers eat in Minecraft? They are a unique case in just about every single way in Minecraft. They don’t eat any normal food like Apples, Wheat, or the meat you gather from Cows, Sheep, and Chicken. Instead, they only eat Torchflower Seeds.
Torchflower Seeds are only obtained when a Sniffer digs them up from a Dirt block. They will randomly walk around the area and put their nose to the ground as they notice something. Of course, there are also other items the Sniffer can find, like other extinct plants similar to the Torchflower.

After the Sniffer digs up Torchflower Seeds, go over and pick up the item. You can then interact with them to give and feed them the Seeds. If your Sniffer has taken any damage, it will slightly heal it. If they are at full health, they will go into love mode and begin looking for a mate to breed a Snifflet with.
As of this writing, that is about all the information we have for Sniffers and their diets. They could potentially eat other ancient plant seeds, but we don’t know yet. We will update this article in the future if needed with new Sniffer information.
