For many people, the most exciting addition to Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is the inclusion of the infamous symbiote. Venom is probably the most popular Spider-Man villain and the black suit is just plain cool. With that said, you may have begun the game hoping to get your hands on the suit quickly. You will likely find out, though, that it takes a little bit of time before you can use it. Here is when Peter gets the symbiote suit in Spider-Man 2.
SPOILER ALERT: Obviously, we are talking about story elements here, so main story spoilers are ahead.
When does Peter get the black suit in Spider-Man 2?
As noted above, it will be quite a bit before you get to swing around New York in the black suit yourself in Spider-Man 2. Peter does not receive the symbiote suit until the main story mission called “Good Men.” This is a mission that starts with you playing as Mary Jane in a zoo trying to find Doctor Connors before Kraven can reactivate his Lizard genes.
This is halfway through the main story, so you will spend quite a few hours before he gets symbiote powers. Putting a time on how long that will take you depends on how many hours you spend exploring the city and doing side content, but we would say we got it about 10 hours in.
The moment Peter is covered in the symbiote in Spider-Man 2, you are given one ability to use in combat alongside your already unlocked abilities for him. You will also be able to start unlocking a new branch in his skill tree, although not all of them will be available regardless if you have saved up the skill points or not.
Outside of the new abilities, Peter doesn’t really play much differently when in the black suit. The symbiote does give him new finishers when you have it equipped, but you are also able to swap out of it whenever you want.
