Over the years, League of Legends lore writers have given their champions more complex, dynamic backstories. The champions starring in Mageseeker are no different. The most ominous and intriguing figure of Mageseeker, no contest, is The Veiled Lady. In classic League of Legends, players know this mystical entity by her more human name: Morgana. But how did Morgana become The Veiled Lady in Mageseeker?
Morgana’s backstory before Mageseeker

During the height of the Rune Wars, where mortals used powerful, celestial World Runes to wage civilization-ending destruction, Morgana and Kayle were born on Mount Targon to Killam and Mihira. At conception, they were humans. However, while pregnant, their mother, Mihira, ascended to godhood as the Aspect of Justice. Because of this, her twin daughters were born with a fraction of her celestial powers. But as Mihira devoted herself to her new godly duties and the wars continued to rage, Killam fled Mount Targon with his daughters to a safe haven. This was a forested land protected by magic-blocking stone that, one day, would be Demacia.
As they aged, Morgana and Kayle grew to have contradicting personalities. Kayle fixated on law and order while Morgana much preferred emotional turmoil and redemption. They were two different lenses of their mother’s judicial godliness. Kayle was blind justice while Morgana was compassionate justice. Their conflict worsened when Mihira’s sword fell from the sky, awakening new celestial powers within both Morgana and Kayle. Both women also wonderfully, horrifically, sprouted inhuman wings. Kayle embraced such power, while Morgana resented it. But the two women worked together to protect the newly founded Demacia. Afterward, its people named them The Winged Protectors.
Despite this history of heroism, though, the death of their father caused the twin sisters to part and go on their own paths.
Morgana’s role as The Veiled Lady in Mageseeker

Over time, Morgana and Kayle’s lives as the Winged Protectors faded into obscurity, a fairy tale of a lost legend instead of a historical event. Instead, Morgana became The Veiled Lady/The Veiled One, a Demacian death deity that supposedly helped loved ones pass easily into the afterlife. Demacians often prayed to her in their darkest moments. She took up residence in The Silent Forest of Demacia, content to help mortals in great need and enact justice when necessary. The Veiled Lady otherwise waited patiently for the inevitable day when she, and perhaps even her sister, were needed again.
Given her involvement in Mageseeker’s story, that time might be coming sooner rather than later.
