By now, fans know and love that Diablo IV has taken a lot of inspiration from the best parts of its predecessors. However, one completely new aspect of Diablo IV is the side quests. Instead of just doing the main story and random event quests for seasonal challenges, Diablo IV also offers small missions to help out the locals. From food collection to dungeon looting, these little adventures have you exploring the entire map. But when it comes to tricky riddle side quests like Keeping The Old Traditions, how do you solve it?

Where to find the Keeping The Old Traditions side quest

While many Diablo IV side quests can be found in the many waypoint villages and towns, others happen out in the wild. Keeping The Old Traditions is one of these quests. You can find and acquire Keeping The Old Traditions by heading Northeast of Jirandai, a city in the Southmost part of the Dry Steppes.

Adventure through the many Fallen and red sand skeletons to find a journal atop a hill. Once you read this “lonely offering”, you will get the
Keeping The Old Traditions mission in your quest log. You also will get handed a riddle that goes with the note.

What’s the solution to the Keeping the Old Traditions riddle?

Once you read this note, it should remind you of other Diablo IV riddles like Secret of The Spring. Because of that, it’s safe to assume that this riddle is emote-based, just like the others. However, the tricky part is the wording. You don’t exactly have a “tradition” emote in your emote bar. Could it mean giving thanks? a prayer? A heroic taunt?

Much like the other riddles, this one is surprisingly simpler than you might expect. All you have to do is hit your E button and go into your emote wheel. Once there, customize your emotes to include the “Yes” prompt. After you’ve saved that, head to the location that the game marked on your map, a statue built into the cliffside. Feel free to hit M to open your map and pin the location to make sure you don’t get lost. It’d be pretty hard to, though, considering the statue is just down the ridge from you to the Northwest.

At the statue, you should stand in front of it and open your emote wheel. Then, use the “Yes” prompt. Your character will say “Yes” at the statue and, apparently, that’s enough to fulfill the tradition. A hidden chest will appear a few feet to the Northeast. Inside, you’ll find a Weak Iron Barb Elixir and an Elixier of Undead-slaying. You’ll also earn 2,200 gold and 15,840 XP as rewards.
