Nintendo released a Direct today focused on the upcoming Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream. The 23-minute video focused on showcasing the various things you can do in the game as you build up your island and add more Mii characters to your population. You can watch the video below or continue reading to learn more about it.
When Does Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream Release?
Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream releases on April 16 for Nintendo Switch and is also playable on Nintendo Switch 2. The game costs $59.99 and is eligible for the Nintendo Switch Online Voucher if you still have one available.
What is Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream?

In Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream, you create Mii characters (Nintendo avatars) that live on your island. Similar to the original Tomodachi Life game on the Nintendo 3DS, these characters will talk with a text-to-speech voice as they react to other characters and communicate with you.
When creating Miis, you can get pretty wild with your imagination or make people you know in real life and see how the game simulates their relationships. The customization options seem to be quite deep this time around, with the video showing teddy bears brought to life and aliens as possible creations.
Will Miis have Relationships?

Yes, miis can fall in love and have relationships in Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream. When they meet, they will start as strangers, but can go on to develop crushes or just be good friends. It also seems that babies can be added to the mix.
On the flip side, miis can also turn down love advances, and the Direct showed a scenario where there could be a love square, with three miis all vying for the love of one single suitor. The friendship, and likely a little randomness, seem to decide if those feelings are reciprocated.
In the time since the original game, Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream has become more inclusive as well. When creating your Mii, you will now be able to set their dating preferences.
Can You Manage the Island?

While a big part of the game is tending to your miis and seeing what they get up to, you will also be able to decorate your island. This can include planting trees, setting up parks and other areas for miis to mingle, and changing the landmass to accommodate how you want it to look. From the looks of things in the trailer, the size of the area you have to build onto your island seems to be very large.
Additionally, you will also be able to design new patterns for the ground, clothes, and buildings, so there are many ways to manage your island to look the way you want it to.
