Overwatch 2: Vendetta is “High-Risk, High-Reward Personified,” The “Ultimate Dive Hero” — Alec Dawson and Bryan Bedford Interview

Overwatch 2 is currently being taken over by Talon, the in-game universe’s big threat to everyone, but it seems that the game’s newest playable character, Vendetta, is leading the charge. If you currently go on any Overwatch social media account or go into the game, you will see that all Overwatch logos have been replaced with an updated Talon logo. The video below has Vendetta saying her reign begins.

Talon Takes Over Overwatch

For those who are unaware, 2026 marks the 10th anniversary of the original version of Overwatch’s release. Whatever is coming next may be the first big celebration of that milestone.

Before Vendetta was added to the roster at the beginning of Season 20, we mentioned that it seemed that Blizzard was building up to something big in the near future in our interview with Alec Dawson and Bryan Bedford. There have been a lot more lore developments lately in the form of new comics, and Vendetta has strongly been strongly hinted at to take over Talon, which, as far as we know, has been run primarily by Doomfist for the last several years.

In a press email regarding all of this, everything is still being held very close to the chest. It reiterates that the game title Overwatch is now called Talon, but they say it’s too dangerous to explain why, and that maybe it will lead to something bigger. Exactly what is that something bigger could be? We don’t know.

Overwatch used to release brilliant cinematic shorts, and everyone has always wanted to see a series developed around its universe, so potentially, they could finally start moving the plot forward with that. You can also expect an in-game event in Season 21, which is only a couple of weeks away. Of course, all of that is mere speculation until an official announcement.

Whatever it is that Blizzard is building up to, we are hoping it makes a big impact and can continue to inject excitement into the Overwatch community.
