The Director of publishing at Larian Studios has confirmed that Baldur’s Gate 3 cross-platform mod support is coming later this year. Larian Studios has been working tirelessly to make sure that Baldur’s Gate 3 plays smoothly on all platforms through multiple patches and 19 hotfixes thus far. The team has also added more dialogue, character interactions, story elements, and more. Of course, all of this pales in comparison to the number of modders working on the game as well.
The modding community for Baldur’s Gate 3 is massive. If you ever check Nexus Mods, you will find over 200 pages worth of mods for Baldur’s Gate 3 alone. That is an astounding amount for a game that has been out of early access for about half a year. That being said, the modding community can let out a brilliant cheer as the director of publishing for Larian Studios has confirmed that Baldur’s Gate 3 cross-platform mod support will be coming in 2024.
In a post on X, @Cromwelp stated, “We’ve been working on a robust, cross-platform plan for mod support to be released later in the year.” Larian Studios is a big fan of the modding community and wants to help them make bigger, more ambitious mods for the game. Many have replied to the post stating that they are hoping for a mod toolset to help them create more mods for the game. Others are hoping that his means mods will be coming to PS5 and Xbox.
It is at times like this that we think back to previous Larian Studios titles like Divinity: Original Sin. Both titles in that series have an extensive number of mods with custom quests, items, skins, and more. With the proper support, we could see the same happen to Baldur’s Gate 3.
