The biggest conspiracy theory in Baldur’s Gate 3 yet has been introduced. What if Halsin, the wood elf druid companion, is actually a bear that transforms into a humanoid rather than the other way around? User GameConsideration took to Reddit to propose his theory.
Now, this isn’t just baseless speculation thrown out there like you would normally see on the internet. There is quite a bit of evidence that the First Druid of Emerald Grove isn’t who he says he is. Here are some argument points for the “Halsin is a bear” theory:
- Halsin is rather large for a wood elf. When asked about this, he dismisses it quickly as potentially having orc in his family history.
- A spell like Polymorph requires concentration. If he were to lose concentration due to exciting circumstances, like when you romance him, he would turn back into his normal form, a bear, for sexy time.
- He also mentions in his sex scene that it is difficult to tame the beast.
- He also transforms into a bear when he gets drunk, another sign that he is losing concentration.
- The scar on his face was received by a she-bear’s claw. A relationship gone wrong, perhaps?
- He is close to a nature spirit that transforms into a humanoid.
Of course, with the absurdity that Larian Studios would include a Sir Bearington-type character in Baldur’s Gate 3, the Reddit post linked above is filled with bear puns, and everyone is buying into the idea. We can’t help but jump on this bandwagon and headcanon that Halsin’s true form is a bear and that he is trying to hide that fact so people will take him seriously. What better person to lead a group of druids than a bear anyway, right?
