There is no denying that Fallout 76 has seen its fair share of criticism over the years. It had a very rocky start when it was released back in 2018. While many turned their backs on Appalachia, leaving it to become more of a secluded wasteland, some remained to keep the memory of Vault 76 afloat. In the wake of the Fallout TV series, the Fallout 76 Steam player count has hit its all-time high. This comes alongside increased player counts and sales for other past Fallout games. Even more, fans are jumping from the TV series and into the wastelands of various Fallout adventures.

The previous record for player count on Steam for Fallout 76 was around 32,000 players back when the Wastelanders update was released. The latest update, American Playground, brought some players back to the game with a questline involving Atlantic City but the TV show has proven to get even more fans interested in the game.

In fact, many Fallout 76 veterans have been taking it upon themselves to help players who are new to the game. Veterans have been handing out gifts, giving advice, and even aiding new vault dwellers in completing quests. The community has begun thriving on all platforms. It also helps that there have been sales for the games and some of them have even been made free on Amazon Prime Gaming.

Even the community has begun to notice how lively Appalachia has become. A recent Reddit post shared the news and many commented showing their support for the game. One user even said “Can’t believe I didn’t get into this game earlier. I used to just walk around the open world map in Fallout 4 and Skyrim just because I loved the immersion and environments. This game is perfect for that” Another user commented, “Started playing it for the first time after watching the show. I am having a lot more fun than I thought I would. This game is genuinely great and I’m excited at all there is to do.”

It’s nice to see the community getting along and enjoying this Fallout experience even if it isn’t the best the series has to offer. Hopefully, the map expansion coming later this year brings even more players to the game.
