Fallout 76 has gone through some pretty significant changes over the years since it was released. The game has received multiple story DLCs, additional weapon types, and even some major quality-of-life-changes. One thing that many Fallout 76 veterans agree on, however, is that area looting was one of, if not the most significant of these changes. Some even believe it was a game-changer and should be implemented in past Fallout games as well as all future installments.
If you didn’t know, area looting is exactly how it sounds. Instead of needing to go around to each individual enemy, you can simply interact with one enemy’s corpse to loot all the enemies in the surrounding area. Considering Fallout 76 has some of the most densely populated areas and enemy-filled events, this quality-of-life change made a huge difference. That is the response that TheLungy got on their Reddit post when asking about the game’s most significant change.
One user commented on the post saying, “It’s especially great for bigger events as it saves significant amounts of time when looting after the event ends. It’s something I wish people would mod into older Fallout games, that’s how significant of a change it is to me.” Another user replied, “The best one. Now I won’t struggle looting a ghoul that’s clipped under a turret after radiation rumble.” Even players who posted lists of their favorite features were sure to add area looting to the list.
Those who played Fallout 76 before this change was implemented may remember how horrible it was to loot every enemy during the Radiation Rumble or Uranium Fever events. For many, this simple change altered the game for them and showed how much the developers pay attention to fan feedback. For newer players, they will never understand what old Appalachia was like and how it has changed over the years.
