God of War director weighs in on who would win in a fight between Ganondorf and Kratos…kind of

God of War director Cory Barlog has given his opinion on a recent Twitter debate pitting Tears of the Kingdom’s Ganondorf up against God of War: Ragnarok’s Kratos. While Barlog might have a clear bias in the matter, he instead chose to have a little more fun with his answer.

no clue who either of these dudes are but I put my money on the bad guy https://t.co/73SSEZ2HAh

Rather than name names, Balrog instead feigned ignorance as to who the two characters in question were and simply stated that “I put my money on the bad guy.” While Kratos has always been the protagonist of the God of War series, it is certainly debatable that he is the “bad guy” in at least most of his titles.

When fans weren’t exactly satisfied with his clearly tongue-in-cheek answer, Balrog doubled down with a follow-up Tweet stating, “It’s funny how people think I don’t know who akuma and the guy from the diablo trailer are. I’m a hardcore gamers. I have a gamerscore and everything.”

The entire thought experiment is meant to just be for an entertaining debate, so Balrog’s light trolling feels all in good fun. To his credit, Ganondorf and Kratos do have a striking resemblance to Street Fighter’s Akuma and the characters from the upcoming Diablo 4. Many fans have joined in on his joke, asking if he meant “bald guy” or ” dad guy.” While we will never get a definitive answer as to who would win in a fight, we will at least get to see what this new Ganondorf is capable of very soon when Tears of the Kingdom releases on May 12.
