Helldivers 2 has been under attack recently thanks to a sudden requirement to link your PlayStation Network account to play the game. Since PSN is not available in all countries, there are many who will ultimately no longer be able to play the game thanks to Sony’s decision. Arrowhead Game Studios has been taking flak since the announcement from some very unhappy Helldivers. The team understands why and the community manager is trying to help Helldivers get their voices heard through the official Helldivers Discord server.
Spitzerfx is one of the community managers for Helldivers 2 and they want players to get their voices heard. They admitted via the Discord server that they are not happy with the linking requirement. Spitzer commented, “I don’t like the requirement to link to a third-party account either. As a consumer, I’d be just as upset.” They continued on to say, “There are far better ways to make your displeasure known than yelling at me or the moderators in here [discord] since none of us can do anything about this decision.”
Since the announcement, many players have been taking to the Discord channel to voice their concerns and have been creating a rather toxic environment at times in the channels. To help combat this and get their voices heard, Spitzerfx said, “I want people to make their displeasure known in a place where it might actually make a difference. Steam reviews and refund requests will do that, angry posting in the Discord won’t.”
Some Helldivers have not been happy about the way that the community managers have been responding to all of these comments but Spitzer does have a point. If you want to make your voice heard, you need to hit Sony where it counts; the wallet. While this will affect Arrowhead as well, it might help more in the long run to make the game better.
