If there is one thing that Helldivers 2 players agree on its that the Automatons are a much bugger threat than the Terminids. You go through the tutorial of the game learning how to defeat the Terminids and then get thrown into a fight against the Automatons knowing little about them. After running the gauntlet on a few planets under Automaton control, you realize that some of these bots have an unfair advantage; namely, the Devastators.
In a post on Reddit, user error3000 unleashed their thoughts on the “absurd state of shield Devastators.” In the rant, the user stated that Devastators are “one of, if not the most accurate Automaton in the game.” They went on to say that “their shield can deflect railgun and autocannon shells.” On top of this, they stated that these robots “don’t need to aim their weapon at you to shoot you.” Instead, these robots can just swivel their heads in your direction.
We admit, we have had little interactions with Automatons but they sound terrifying based on this rant and the comments. One user commented, “I find them way too accurate over long distances, I would simply nerf the distance required for them to open fire.” Another comment on the rant reads, “I think the main issue is them not shooting out of their barrels. They just shoot around their shield, the guns not pointed at you, but it’s still hitting you.”
One user offered a bit of help to their fellow Helldivers and said, “If you hit them with the autocannon they stumble and stop shielding their body for a few seconds. Then you pump a few new shots in their exposed body and they are down. It also prevents them from shooting, same with rocket devastators. So autocannon is always a good pick.” What is your go-to method of bot killing?
