A Kindom Hearts movie has been rumored by DisInsider and fans are skeptical, to say the least. The popular Disney news site posted one of its mailbags which goes over potential Disney rumors and a bit of information about Kingdom Hearts arose. In the article, it was written that “Disney is developing an animated Kingdom Hearts movie.” They went on to say, “While years back I had heard the idea was to do something on Disney+, more recently I have heard the goal would be big screen adaptation, but as of now, these are just rumblings and nothing has been greenlit.”
The Hollywood Handle posted about the rumor on its X account and fan reception is… pretty poor. One of the first comments on the post simply reads, “NO DON’T LET THEM TOUCH IT.” There are many fans who would have to agree with this statement.
Another user commented, “The Kingdom Hearts story is too dense for even a 2-hour movie.” We have to agree. Considering the events of just one game, there is too much story to be compacted into a two-hour-long movie. That would barely be able to scratch the surface of Kingdom Hearts lore and how it has been changed over the years.
One comment reads, “Like the games are fun don’t get me wrong but that plot is PEAK what the f*** is happening.” Again, we agree that it wouldn’t make much sense to turn the game into a movie since players don’t even understand what is happening and they have had three mainline games and a series of spinoffs. “They finally ran out of things to ruin and had to be reminded of what they own,” another comment reads. Many fans have agreed that Disney hasn’t been doing great in the movie and television department since 2020 happened and it is clear that the confidence just isn’t there.
