Pokémon FireRed & LeafGreen Pokémon Home Support Coming This Week

When Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen launched on Nintendo Switch, trainers worldwide were excited to dive back into the Kanto region. But access to Pokémon Home was notably missing from the formula. Thankfully, we now know that starting Wednesday, you will have access to the service, with a catch.

Welcome Home

Starting Wednesday, October 7th at 8 pm EST, The Pokémon Company confirmed that Pokémon Home will undergo maintenance. During this six-hour outage, Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen compatibility will be added. And while many will be relieved to hear this news, there is the caveat that once Pokémon from FireRed and LeafGreen have made their way to other games, they will no longer be able to return to their original titles. They also made it clear that Pokémon from other games in the series will be unable to jump into FireRed and LeafGreen.

It is also worth noting that, as a reward for trainers who complete the Pokédex in FireRed or LeafGreen, Celebi will appear in the mobile version of Pokémon Home as a gift. And in order to complete the Pokédex there is no need to transfer Pokémon to Pokémon Home, if you have a registered Pokédex in either game, it will be registered directly to Home. Automation also noted that this version of Celebi will be the same one that was distributed back in 2006 as a Mystery Gift.

Keeping the Team Together

Pokémon Home continues to serve as a vital tool for trainers who have their hands in multiple games at once or want their oldest partners with them for the journey ahead. The promise of Celebi also serves as a nice incentive to get back out into these games and catch em all. And while it is a bummer that most of these transfers are one-way, having the ability to transfer any new additions to your team will be a welcome one.
