The month of September and Nintendo are awfully familiar with each other, as this is normally the month where company holds a Direct. Coming off the heels of their recent Summer Game Fest Nintendo Direct, where the Ocarina of Time Remake was revealed, fans were left wanting more. Thankfully, some new leaks and reports signal that fans shouldn’t have to wait too long to get the information they’re looking for.
Wake Me Up When September Ends
This newest report comes from a YouTube video uploaded by Switch Force, who in the past has been known to leak various Direct dates. The date of this specific Direct was pinned to September 10th. That being said, this video should be taken with a massive grain of salt simply because it is based on apparent leaks paired with speculation. Switch Force goes on to state that the Direct will be “Solid” but will also be “lackluster and disappointing.”
Dancing the Month Away
To add some hope to this mix, Nintendo is notorious for holding Directs in September, as they’ve remained consistent from 2021 through 2025 with 2024 being the only outlier as it was held on August 27th. But that may not be the strongest bit of evidence for this argument. A new tweet from the Just Dance X account might’ve just spilled the beans for this unannounced Direct.
“We’re committed to sharing the complete picture with you on September 10, and we sincerely thank you for your patience and continued support in the meantime,” the post read. And while Switch Force was the one who specifically brought up the September 10th date, Nintendo Prime’s recent statement had people talking as well. “*cough*. Just so folks know, the game has never been revealed outside of Ubisoft Forwards or Nintendo Directs. Ubisoft no longer does Forwards… so like last year, a Direct is it. As I said, lock in 9.10.26. That’s when the direct is. Book it,” they stated.
Waiting in the Wings
Lastly, there is still a lingering question as to what games could show up at this Direct. The low-hanging fruit here would be our first real look at The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake, and go ahead and throw in Just Dance: Decades of Hits. There has also been growing speculation that Capcom can show up in a major way and introduce new Mega Man details, Ace Attorney 7, and announce Monster Hunter Wilds for the Switch 2. And for those hoping this will be the moment in which we get our first look at the new 3D Mario game, they might want to hold their breath just a little while longer.
