A new report is claiming that Sonic and his friends may be gearing up for a journey that spans all of space and time in Sonic Movie 4. Not only that, but one member of the cast is getting a full suit of medieval armor for their troubles. Given how Sonic Movie 3’s post-credit scene unfolded, it may sound crazy, but it just might work.
A Journey Through Time
A new report coming from DanielRPK on X claims that Sonic Movie 4 will feature either multiversal or time travel. The distinction at this point in time is unclear, but the report also goes on to claim that Shadow the Hedgehog, at some point in time, will wear a full suit of armor and wield the Arondight sword. If this all sounds familiar, that is because this is straight out of the plot of the 2009 Wii title Sonic and the Black Knight.
In that game, Sonic ultimately finds himself in the world of Camelot, where his friends take up the roles of famous Arthurian figures. Shadow in this instance represents Sir Lancelot, which would explain the sword. The rest of Sonic’s friends all appear within this game, Amy Rose included. And when you factor in how Sonic 4 was shot under the production title “Palmtree Panic,” which is the name of the opening zone in Sonic CD, that game’s time travel is a big component of the story.
Too Good to be True?
So there is a solid chance this movie deals with either time travel or a multiverse situation, which makes both of these rumors work just a little too nicely. Only time will tell, as we are nearly due for a trailer that could drop some form of breadcrumb for us to follow. And keeping our eyes on the grand prize here, time travel could give us an avenue to one of the coolest Sonic characters of all time, Silver the Hedgehog.
