The Lord of the Rings is one of the most beloved franchises of all time. Beginning with the books written by J.R.R. Tolkien, the franchise has since spawned numerous movies, television shows, video games, and more. When it comes to games, however, few companies have been able to capture the true magic of Middle-Earth, with only a couple of games becoming best sellers. Well, following numerous rumors, there is a new Middle-Earth game that is under development, and it is being made by one of the studios most well-suited for the job.
Warhorse Studios Announces Development on Middle-Earth RPG
It has been heavily rumored for a while now that Warhorse Studios was involved in an upcoming Lord of the Rings RPG, but no confirmation had been received. That is, until now. Early today, Warhorse Studios, best known for the Kingdom Come: Deliverance franchise, announced it is currently working on two upcoming projects. These projects are a new Kingdom Come adventure, which was to be expected, but more importantly, an “open world Middle-Earth RPG.”
Unfortunately, this is all that was stated in the post on the Warhorse Studios X page. The team will tell us “more when the time is right.” There is no telling when this will be, but we imagine that we will hear more about one or both projects by the end of the year.
Many have shared their excitement in response to this announcement, with many recognizing that Warhorse is aptly suited to create a massive RPG such as this, thanks to the team’s attention to detail in crafting the world of Kingdom Come.
Many have also pointed out that the upcoming years will be rather exciting for those who love medieval RPGs, as we are getting upcoming games like The Elder Scrolls VI, a new Kingdom Come adventure, a new Lord of the Rings RPG, and The Witcher 4. The genre is also riding a high from the recent release of Crimson Dessert, which was praised by many.
