New leaks suggest that Xbox is looking to expand its hardware portfolio with the addition of two brand new pieces of tech. While nothing is confirmed right now, these claims should be taken with a grain of salt, but it is nice to see that Xbox is trying to appeal to a wide range of gamers with these two new controllers.
Taking Full Control

According to a new set of leaks coming from Technoblog, Xbox is currently developing a more compact controller that focuses more on the users who game with Xbox Cloud Gaming. According to the source, this controller will have a smaller design, a rechargeable internal battery, Bluetooth connectivity, and, for the very first time, built-in Wi-Fi. And as seen in the pictures provided by Technoblog, this controller may come in both a clean black and white colorway.

Just a few hours later, yet another leak came from Technoblog that showcased the successor to the Elite 2 controller in the Elite 3. This controller will feature an interchangeable d-pad, back paddles, and two brand new mystery buttons. These scroll wheels have sparked a lot of conversation online, as many think their purpose is to offer further controller adjustments.

Features for cloud gaming will also be part of the Elite 3, as it will include a button that lets users switch between local play and cloud gaming mode, allowing them to connect directly to the Xbox cloud gaming servers for lower latency. The cherry on the top for the Elite 3, which may come as a relief to some, it will include a removable rechargeable battery out of the box as well.

Head in the Cloud
While nothing is set in stone for these controllers, it is nice to see that Xbox is considering multiple ways gamers play their games in the modern gaming climate. It is also worth mentioning that another “basic” controller might be in the works as well, but we do not have any further details or pictures at this moment in time. But if the controllers we talked about today are as far along as they appear to be, it wouldn’t be the least bit surprising that we see at least one of them at the upcoming Xbox Summer Showcase in June.
