The combat in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers can get pretty tough. Thanks to its fast pace and difficult mechanics, you might have a difficult time getting everything down. You might also be used to other Soulslike titles that allow you to parry opponents, giving you an edge, and allowing you to go in for a visceral attack. Unfortunately, the parry system in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers is a little bit different than the standard Soulslike game. Thankfully, many enemies can be parried, and it is a strong mechanic in the game for when you are stuck on sword-wielding bosses like Commander Honglan.
How to Unlock the Parry and Parry Enemies in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers

There are two ways to use the parry mechanic in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers. First, you can unlock the ability to parry enemies via the Impetus Reposity at any Shrine. Start by visiting a Shrine and delve down the longsword upgrade path.
It requires eight levels to reach the node that unlocks the Sword Counter Disciplinary Skill that allows you to parry enemies. Once you have this unlocked, you can equip the Disciplinary Action to any of your longswords via the Shrine menu.

The only weapon that naturally can deflect an opponent’s attack is the Twin Bandits Dual Blades. This weapon is found in the Cloudspire Outskirts and comes with the block ability. This can also be enhanced via the Impetus Repository by following the upgrade path for the dual blades.
Once you have the Sword Counter Disciplinary Skill unlocked, equip it to a longsword, and you will be able to parry enemies by pressing the L2/LT button on your controller. When performed at the right time, you will deflect an opponent’s attack, allowing you to evade damage and leaving them open for an attack.
If you are using the Twin Bandits Dual Blades, you will need to press L1/LB instead, since it is the Weapon Skill and not a Disciplinary Skill. It is important to note that one-handed swords, axes, and spears cannot parry enemies. Also, only weapon attacks can be parried. Punches, kicks, slams, and other attacks not involving a weapon can’t be parried.
