Xbox is no stranger to collaborating on a wide range of products, which at one point in time included a fully operational refrigerator that was modeled after the Xbox Series X. And thanks to a newly released teaser trailer, it looks like Xbox is slowly working its way into your home in ways you didn’t know you needed.
Have a Seat, Chief
Xbox and the popular home furniture store IKEA teased their latest yet unexpected collaboration via Instagram. The short clip highlights various elements of the modern Xbox controller, such as the joysticks and what appears to be a D-pad-themed cushion. While this is certainly one of the collaborations you truly never saw coming, Xbox is certainly doing the most when it comes to marketing their brand.
As for the fan reception, most of the comments are mixed, with most of them scratching their heads as to what good could truly come from an Xbox and IKEA collaboration. Fans have also speculated that the joysticks featured in the trailer may pose as desk lamps or even stools. There are also images of what appears to be Xbox’s Gamescom booth that is home to yet another all-black D-pad cushion as well, but those images have yet to be verified.
Couch Co-op is Back (Literally)
Xbox is clearly keen on celebrating all aspects of Xbox during its 25th anniversary. And for those of you who are interested in what this collaboration has to offer, Xbox and IKEA will be looking to share more information at Gamescom next week. Hopefully, what was shown today is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Xbox’s most recent attempt to revitalize the brand and paint a new picture of what lies ahead for fans all around the world.
