Rockstar may have suffered a data breach that has resulted in Grand Theft Auto 6 gameplay leaking online. In the time since the videos went live, a majority of them have been hit with DMCA takedown strikes coming from Take-Two Interactive themselves, which could add some validity to these leaks. As for the content of the leaks, there was a wide range of things covered, from gameplay, in-development footage, and claimed features of the game.
Leak and Deets Galore
The series of clips that made the rounds on every gaming forum online highlights a wide variety of new details that range from the mundane to the pretty exciting. The initial leak showed footage of Jason playing basketball outside of his waterfront home. The footage itself was very rough, and many think that AI could be at play here. Secondly are various aspects of exploration, six-star wanted levels, side quests, and a never-before-seen location included in the map. Other leaks include examples of loadout systems, refueling mechanics for cars, and some of the in-game tech like your cellphone.
It is worth noting that as of right now, the validity of these leaks has not been certified or corroborated. And what should be a massive red flag for most people is the fact that some of these leaks reference a shady cryptocurrency link that should NOT be trusted. The link claims that if you click on it that will take you to a site that is home to more leaks, which is clearly a ruse. And some have reported that the leaker got this footage and leaked it as a way to protest the digital-only release of Grand Theft Auto 6.
Don’t Click That Link
For now, fans should strictly look forward to the official gameplay rollout of Grand Theft Auto 6 on August 27th. But given how we are inching closer and closer to the actual release of Grand Theft Auto 6, it is safe to assume Rockstar will be subject to many data breach attempts just like this.
