Rockstar recently suffered a data breach that was orchestrated by a leaker who is working under the alias of ‘CYBERLEEK’. The culprit has been fairly active ever since the initial wave of leaks, releasing a full statement as to why they’re leaking content, a warning to any other developers who may be at risk of an attack, and a full list of commandments they should abide by to avoid their fury. But as the day moves along, fans will be glued to their feeds as the leaker released a countdown for when the next drop will happen.
When the Clock Strikes 8
A recent X post was made by the user @gtasix_that claims the leaker is still very much active and is currently teasing more GTA 6 leaks for later tonight at 8 PM ET. What is interesting about this rollout is that the leaker claims they are “being rate-limited,” so if any more content were to make its way online, it will be more of a drip feed versus a bulk release. They also commented on a recent YouTube live stream and highlighted the latest batch of leaks that include footage of Lucia on an airboat in the swamps and modding your loadout in the truck of your car.
The Three Commandments of the Leek
The most fascinating part of these leaks is a list of commandments developers should follow to avoid the same fate as Rockstar. The list is short but sends a clear message to developers: “Thou shalt not sell digital preorders, Thou shalt not sell fake single-player DLC, and Thou shalt preserve single-player content.”
Cyberleek goes on to state that it’s not only Rockstar who can and will be subject to their attacks, but also any developer who breaks the commandments. He also says he will “continue to disrupt their operations until they issue a public apology with a concrete commitment to fix the harm they caused.”
When Will it End?
It is pretty insane to think about the levels to which this vigilante is going to protest digital games. But clearly they’re not to be trifled with, as multiple gaming insiders confirmed most of the leaks coming from that account are indeed real. And with ‘2-4 more leaks” at the ready for Grand Theft Auto 6, it is safe to assume that there will be no shortage of things to talk about regarding one of the most over-the-top leak stories in recent memory.
