This year, Xbox is celebrating its 25th anniversary, and in doing so, they’re releasing games for all of its tentpole franchises. From Fable to Gears of War to Halo, almost every title is getting love, but Xbox took things one step further at their summer showcase. It was revealed that they are releasing a brand new Xbox Series X console with a heavy dose of retro flair.
I’m Seeing Green
To celebrate 25 years of Xbox, a limited edition Xbox Series X25 console will be hitting the market, and it is a bit of a throwback to the original Xbox console. Both the console and controller featured in this release will rock a translucent OG Green design, with subtle tributes to the journey Xbox has taken over the years alongside its many fans.

The Xbox Wire Blog post mentioned that this console will include a 1 TB drive and will have the same power and performance as a typical Series X. As for the finer details of this beautiful machine, the iconic X button on the console will light up green as compared to the white light on the normal Series X. It will also feature an Xbox 25th Anniversary logo on the front of the device along with “other design elements that celebrate XBOX fans and classic hardware designs.”

Xbox also noted that the console and controller will be available together in select markets in limited quantities. But if you were on the lookout for the controller itself, that will be available in November as a standalone purchase.
I Can See Right Through You
Admittedly, when this device was first revealed during the showcase, I was enamored by it. I was immediately transported back to my youth and thought this was the perfect way to celebrate a new era of Xbox. I also think this should serve as a prime example to console makers around the industry that translucent video game consoles are cool and more people should make them (cough, cough, Nintendo).
