Do you need to accumulate Inspiration Points in Baldur’s Gate 3? How about spending them to complete some actions? Inspiration plays a big role in Baldur’s Gate 3 and allows you to retry various checks and rolls. Inspiration could mean the difference between failing a check miserably or succeeding with flying colors.

You may think of Inspiration as the mechanic the Bard uses to enhance someone’s capabilities. There are actually two forms of Inspiration in Baldur’s Gate 3. One comes in the form of points and can only be obtained in specific ways. This guide will show you how to get and use Inspiration Points in Baldur’s Gate 3.

How to get Inspiration Points in Baldur’s Gate 3

To get Inspiration Points in Baldur’s Gate 3, you will need to complete actions that go along with your character’s background. When you create your character, you get to choose between various backgrounds. Each of these backgrounds has goals that you can accomplish. Accomplishing any of these will get you an Inspiration Point.

Here are some goals that will count toward the different backgrounds:

  • Survive a fight in which you kill 10 or more enemies
  • Steal an item worth at least 1,000 gold
  • Earn Mattis’ respect by taking his ring
  • Save Findal from the Goblins

The more you act in a way that is true to your background, the more Inspiration Points you will get.

How to use Inspiration Points in Baldur’s Gate 3

Inspiration Points are used to reroll checks and saves in Baldur’s Gate 3. When you fail a check, you will see the option to reroll at the cost of one Inspiration Point. This option only appears after you fail a check and if you have an Inspiration Point to use. If you don’t you will simply fail the check and be forced to face the consequences.

Because of this, you should hold onto as many Inspiration Points as possible for when you really need them. Use them when you need to make a difficult check and don’t waste them on something simple.
