Many Helldivers 2 fans have noticed that patrols and spawn rates have been messed up for some time now. This bug has led to single and co-op players feeling overwhelmed by the number of enemies appearing. Luckily, we should be seeing a fix on the horizon. By fix, we mean that everything will be reverted back to what it was before the patch that screwed everything up. After that, it will be an undetermined amount of time until there is a proper fix for the issue. At least Helldivers can rest easy knowing there will be fewer enemies to worry about going forward for smaller teams and solo players.
Helldivers 2 community manager Twinbeard made a statement regarding the patrol/spawn bug saying, “We’ve concluded that it’s not working as intended and we’re changing it.” Arrowhead will fix this issue temporarily by “reverting back to how patrols and spawn rate worked before the patch that changed them a few weeks ago.” This is a big win for players who like to play in small two-person teams or by themselves.
The statement did not end there, however, as this change will take some time. Twinbeard went on to say, “We also know you want us to do things and changes properly instead of rushing them, and we do as well. Therefore, implementing this will take some time. We want to give it proper testing and review it … ah heck, simply see that it works this time. Even if this means we’re faced with more bugs and bots than even the bravest of citizens would deem realistic for a while longer, we hope you’re happy with us fixing the problem.”
So while the change is coming, it may take a while before it is actually implemented. Some took this as a sign that Arrowhead does not test properly. To this, Twinbeard simply said, “We’ve been under a lot of pressure ever since the launch, and cadence with updates have been high. We need to slow things down a bit to avoid simple mistakes.”
To us, this sounds like Arrowhead will be taking a bit of a slower and more methodical approach to future updates. This will be greatly appreciated by fans who have been disappointed by the number of issues that have popped up in recent patches and should lead to fewer bugs like the patrols glitch in the future.
