Do you want to get the Owlbear Cub in Baldur’s Gate 3? This cute creature isn’t the easiest one to obtain in the game but it makes a great addition to your camp. Once this creature grows up, it can prove to be a use addition to combat as well. Many have even used it to destroy bosses in one hit.
There are multiple animal companions you can obtain in Baldur’s Gate 3. You can also find a dog named Scratch wandering about. If you happen across the Owlbear Nest, you may get lucky enough to pick up the Owlbear Cub. This guide will show you how to get the Owlbear Cub in Baldur’s Gate 3.
Where to find the Owlbear Cub in Baldur’s Gate 3
If you want to get the Owlbear Cub in Baldur’s Gate 3, start by heading to the Owlbear Nest. This is to the west of the Emerald Grove Environs Waypoint. You will know when you are near the cave since there will be two NPCs standing over a man who was attacked.
Enter the Owlbear Nest and you will be able to find the mama Owlbear in the back along with the cub. This is the same cave where the enchanted Gilded Chest is located. You can sneak up on the Owlbear if you are stealthy enough. Otherwise, you will come face-to-face with the behemoth.

You will have a few options for dealing with the Owlbear. Unless you are stealthy, this will most likely end in a fight. If you fight the mama Owlbear, be sure to avoid killing the cub. When the mom is killed, the cub will ignore you and eat its mother. Now, you need to move on to the next area.
The Owlbear Cub will next be found at the Goblin Camp. This is on the far western side of the map past the Blight Village. Once there, you will find the Owlbear Cub on the left side of the camp with Goblin Krolla. Be sure to enter the camp as an ally using your charisma or you will have a difficult time here. Talk to Krolla and tell her you want the Owlbear Cub. As part of getting the Owlbear Cub, you will need to complete a game of Chicken Chase.
You will now have a few choices; persuasion, intimidation, bribery, and mind control using your Illithid powers. Either of these routes, if successful, will result in you getting the Owlbear Cub. Afterward, talk to the Owlbear Cub to have it learn your sent. It will now appear back at your camp after a few days.
