How to leave dungeons in Diablo IV

Dungeons are the bread and butter of the Diablo franchise. One of the best tools added in Diablo III was the ability to teleport to the dungeon entrance. It makes it so much easier for players to go back to exploring a region instead of teleporting to town, using a waypoint, and then having to hike back to where they left off. In Diablo III, this trick was normally done with teleportation obelisks waiting at the end of any dungeon. Diablo IV, however, has no such pillars. So, is there a way for Diablo IV players to get back to the entrance?

Can you exit dungeons in Diablo IV?

Thankfully, Diablo IV doesn’t leave its players high and dry. There is a way to exit any dungeon. All you have to do is use the M key to open your map and then hover over the gate icon at the beginning of any dungeon. From there, you can right-click to begin teleporting back to the entrance.

Also, instead of fighting their way through and finding a teleportation pillar at the end of a dungeon, players can use this method to teleport out at any time. This is nice because now you don’t have to clear out the entire dungeon to get a way back out. If at any time you decide you’re done, Diablo IV gives you an easy out.

Downsides to leaving a dungeon in Diablo IV

While this teleporting process is really easy and helpful, there are some downsides to using it. If you get distracted adventuring and head to new areas before getting back to your dungeon, it will completely reset and you’ll have to start over. So if you’re just leaving a dungeon for a short period of time with the intention of returning and finishing up, be careful not to stray too far.

Also, unlike teleporting to town to clean your inventory or upgrade your potions, returning to the dungeon’s entrance won’t give you a teleportation portal back. So, be sure that you want to leave before clicking on that in-map dungeon gate. Otherwise, you’ll have some trekking to do when you return.
