The Helldivers 2 community has been through a lot over the past couple of days. Sony’s decision to enforce the PSN account requirement had many in the community feeling betrayed. That betrayal became worse when Helldivers 2 community manager Spitzerfx posted comments seeming to attack the community they support. After posting statements seemingly on the side of Sony, the community manager quickly apologized when told the truth about the matter and how many would be unable to play the game going forward. Of course, this decision has been changed by Sony and the company will no longer be requiring a PSN account for Steam users.
After these comments, Spitzerfx was presumably fired as many questioned where they disappeared to over the weekend. Watching the Discord channel, their image disappeared and things were looking pretty bleak. For those who stand on the side of the Helldivers 2 community manager, they released a statement today showing that they weren’t fired.
After posting earlier today, a few stated that they believed Spitzer was fired for their comments. They responded by saying, “Almost. Not quite. Turns out that telling people to review-bomb and refund a game isn’t a popular decision with the publisher.” This, of course, is in reference to Spitzerfx telling everyone in the discord to “make your displeasure known” shortly after the announcement from Sony.
There are many who are glad that Spitzerfx has returned to the Helldivers 2 community and is once again answering the many questions and woes of the players. Some have even offered their apologies to the community manager for hateful speech and attacks that came during the whole debacle.
Spitzerfx responded to the statement by saying “Nobody owes me anything. Only thing I’d ask for is that the negative reviews be updated.” Remember, if you added a negative review in support of those being banned on PC, be sure to update and give your condolences to Spitz if you have the time.
