New MOs in Helldivers 2 are always planned out by the developers but the recent events call for drastic new measures. The community is asking players to take part in a new MO that they have dubbed Operation Blackout. This isn’t the first MO created by the community as the previous one was to bombard the Helldivers 2 Steam page with negative reviews. That MO has worked flawlessly as the community has dropped done more devastation to the game’s reputation than a 500kg bomb does to a Terminid nest.
The new major order was posted by MIFARA on Reddit and has since received over 7,000 upvotes as the community prepares for perhaps the most difficult MO to date. This major order will last from May 9, 2024, to May 14, 2024, and it requires Helldivers to help the fight for democracy by putting down the game and playing something else.
That’s right, Operation Blackout is a complete blackout for Helldivers 2 – a period of time with no activity to show that we Helldivers are prepared to do whatever it takes for democracy. While it may sound like a desperate plea, the community is surprisingly on board and some have even started the MO early as one user commented, “Black Out on the 9th? My brother in Democracy, I stopped playing yesterday!”
Others on the Reddit page said that they “haven’t played since they dropped the news.” Some questioned the MO by saying, “Why not stop playing now?” We believe the dates were chosen because the new Warbond called Polar Patriots is being released on May 9. As for the second date, May 14 is the day that Sony is expected to make its earnings call for the first fiscal quarter.
If everything goes well with this operation and we stand successful, the second one mentioned is on May 30, 2024, and it is called Lights Out. We can only assume that it is a longer blackout period or the cancellation of PSN accounts. Will you be joining the fight?
UPDATE: Since this post was published Sony has since taken back the need to create a PSN account. Many fans celebrated the victory against Sony so there is no need for Operation Blackout.
