The latest Helldivers 2 patch has been rolled out and many are claiming that the community manager lied about the content of the update. It was mentioned by the community manager earlier that 24 weapons and stratagems would be getting tweaked with this build. For those who don’t know, that is about 30% of the game’s current arsenal of weapons and stratagems so it is a big deal.
Yesterday, community manager Spitzer said that “most of the 24 things being changed are being buffed.” They went on to say that “there’s like maybe two” that they would “consider a nerf” and that “most of the nerfs are just to reduce the maximum mags carried.” Now that the rather lengthy patch notes have been released, players are saying that there are many more nerfs than they anticipated.
Many have taken to the Helldivers 2 Reddit page to complain about the patch. One user stated, “He failed to mention they’re buffs… in the perspective of the enemy.” Another user commented, “You absolutely should have worded it as “four nerfs plus a general ammo economy nerf for a lot of weapons”. I understand that’s how you meant it originally, but that was a failure in communication.”
The Helldivers 2 community manager has been responding to these complaints, stating on Reddit “Not including the general changes to ammo economy, 17 weapons got a straight buff and four got horizontal tweaks. But you’re right, I said two nerfs and there were four, I apologize.”
On Discord, the community manager responded to one user complaining about the nerfs by saying “There are literally 15 items that got straight buffs with no nerfs attached.” After scanning the patch notes, we have to agree that there aren’t many nerfs. Many weapons got buffs but there are some that ended up getting their magazines altered or ended up having slight damage decreases.
