The latest Helldivers 2 build messed with a lot of weapons, 24 to be precise. With that being said, this patch had some unintended effects. By that, we mean that the ricochet mechanic seems to be utterly broken. The official fix from the patch says, “Shots that ricochet from heavily armored enemies will now properly hit the Helldiver who fired them. Trigger discipline is highly recommended.” When properly translated, this means that any and all rockets and missiles will shoot back at whoever fired them.
The Helldivers 2 community managers were quick to respond to this instance with community manager Spitzerfx saying that this is “definitely an unintended bug after the change to ricochets.” They went on to say that they are sure that the bug will “probably be fixed by the end of the week if it’s an easy fix to do.”
Many took to Reddit to vent about their frustrations with the mechanic as Helldivers are getting killed left and right. Others have complained that there seems to be a bit more nerfing done to the weapons than was mentioned in the patch notes but that is yet to be confirmed. Many have also reached out to community manager Twinbeard on Discord to get his response on the matter.
Twinbeard released a statement yesterday on the Helldivers 2 Discord server saying that the “engineers are working hard to resolve the issue.” He also said that they will give us an update when they know more. With more nerfs than players intended, many are not having a good time with the latest build update. At least players now have the airburst rocket launcher that they can use if the pellets don’t fire back at them. For now, just be sure to practice safety when dealing with explosives on the battlefield.
