Experience Hollow Knight in a whole new way with Hallownest Vocalized. This mod is the result of over a hundred passionate and talented fans and modders working together to add full voice acting to the acclaimed metroidvania.
Much like Team Cherry themselves, fans never seem to give up on adding more features and mechanics to Hollow Knight years after release. This particular effort began work in August of 2021, but has only been fully completed as of this week. Check out the trailer below to get a taste of how Hallownest feels with human voices.
As you can see, or rather hear, the audio quality is clearly not up to professional production standards, but the performances themselves are quite good for a fan effort. This team wasn’t content with simply voicing the main characters and calling it a day. As the trailer states, 35 spirits, 45 lore tables, 42 bosses, 48 NPCs, 89 corpses, 105 item descriptions, 168 journal entries, and 218 enemies all now have voice-acting.
Fan reaction has been very positive so far, with many praising the incredible amount of work the mod took to create, and praising all the vocal performances. For a game so drenched in atmosphere that adding voices could easily have tarnished that aspect. That risk has apparently paid off, and now fans have a new reason to visit Hallownest one more time while we wait for Silksong. If you’re interested in giving it a shot, it is free to download here!
