Leading up to the release of Resident Evil Requiem, Capcom revealed many callbacks to the older games, with the biggest of them being the return of the Raccoon City Police Department from Resident Evil 2. After millions of copies sold and countless runs through the game, many have questioned why the Spencer mansion from the original title didn’t make it into the game. Well, a well-known Resident Evil leaker has stated that work is underway on a remake of the original game, which explains why the mansion was cut from Resident Evil Requiem.
Resident Evil Original Remake Coming After Code Veronica
A little while back, popular leaker Dusk Golem announced some upcoming remakes. As part of this, they stated that Code Veronica and Resident Evil 0 would both be receiving remakes in the upcoming years. Now, Dusk Golem is saying that the original Resident Evil title is getting a remake as well, and that this is the reason the mansion did not appear in Resident Evil Requiem.
In a recent post on X, Dusk Golem said the reason for the mansion being cut from Resident Evil Requiem is due to the Code Veronica Remake and the Resident Evil Remake. This is because Code Veronica has a section that returns players to the Spencer mansion, and the original title is set entirely in the mansion. Their theory is that due to this, players would be tired of the Spencer mansion, despite it being a good setting for the games.
Dusk Golem said, “It’d start to feel very samey & not very special at all. Going back to it so many times in short succession.” It is unfortunate that the mansion didn’t make an appearance in Resident Evil Requiem, but at least players will be able to return to the beloved setting in the upcoming remakes, should the leaks turn out to be true.
