We are not far away from the release of Resident Evil Requiem, and naturally, more information is being revealed about the game as we get closer to the release. Recently, Capcom held a showcase for the upcoming Resident Evil title, and it shows more of the duality of Leon and Grace’s playstyles. Along with this, the team revealed more information about what game modes are in the title. Also, yes, you can finally wield the chainsaw as Leon. All of this has us even more excited about Resident Evil Requiem, but let’s break down the showcase.
Leon’s Vs. Grace’s Gameplay

The two protagonists of Resident Evil Requiem are Grace Ashcroft and the man who does pointless backflips, Leon Kennedy. It has already been mentioned in the past that Grace and Leon will have differing gameplay styles, with Grace’s story being more focused on stealth and survival, and Leon’s being more focused on gunplay and action.
More was shown about how different these characters are. For instance, Leon will receive more ammo, be able to perform takedowns, and hack at enemies with a hatchet. Meanwhile, Grace will need to scavenge more for ammo and make more difficult decisions about whether to kill an enemy or sneak around them. You will get a taste of both characters, however, as the game will have you switch between them. This isn’t like past titles where you can choose your protagonist.
More Leon gameplay was shown, featuring him executing a doctor zombie and stealing its chainsaw. He then proceeded to use the chainsaw on other zombies in the area, showing that you are able to take weapons from the infected.
A New Type of Crafting

The team showcased the new crafting system, which they said was modeled after the system used in Resident Evil 2. Much of the crafting requires the use of infected blood. This means that you will need to take down enemies if you want to craft specific items.
Some of the items listed in the crafting menu were handgun ammo – made using scrap and blood, and other standard Resident Evil items like mixed herbs. One new item, however, is the Hemolytic Injector, which states that it “prevents corpses from mutating and can be used to stealthily take out enemies.” We assume we will see enemies mutate in ways similar to past games, with the infection sprouting from the infected’s head.
The Hemolytic Injector was showcased using Grace. The clip showed Grace stab one of the infected in the back of the neck with the injector. Shortly after, the infected exploded.
Ink Ribbons Return

There are multiple difficulties in Resident Evil Requiem, with casual being the easiest. This difficulty mode gives you aim assist, making it easier to take down the infected. The aim assist also shows arrows around the enemies, seemingly showing weak spots.
Of course, there is the standard difficulty with gameplay that we have come to expect from the recent titles like Resident Evil Village, but the team has added an alternate standard difficulty labeled as “classic.” This mode makes it so you need to find Ink Ribbons to save, as you did in the earlier titles. Along with this, you have other gameplay options like the ability to switch between first and third-person POV at any time.
