If you haven’t heard the news yet, the developers at Gameloft have stated that Disney Dreamlight Valley isn’t going to be free to play. This obviously upset fans who were hoping to be able to play the game once it left early access. Announced on X in the fall, Gameloft did state that the game would remain a paid experience for the foreseeable future.
Along with the announcement that disappointed fans, Gameloft also unveiled other features such as Disney Dreamlight Valley multiplayer – a feature that many have been waiting for as well. While this helped soften the blow, many were still left wondering. So why is Disney Dreamlight Valley not going free to play?
Disney Dreamlight Valley – Will it ever be free to play?
Currently, there is no word if the game will ever be free to play. For the foreseeable future, Gameloft plans on keeping it as a paid experience. The reason for this change of plans is so the company “will be able to continue delivering on a premium game experience for all players.” At least, that is what the post about the update stated.
So far, Disney Dreamlight Valley has received multiple updates in the year since it was released on early access. These updates have included free characters, items, quests, and more. Along with that, Gameloft has finished the first main storyline. The developers also announced the first expansion called A Rift in Time.
The developers also had a live stream where they mentioned that the game would leave early access on December 5, 2023. When Disney Dreamlight Valley leaves early access, it will officially cost at least $50 depending on the version that you purchase. On top of that, the expansion pass costs another $30 if you want the additional DLC. Don’t worry, Gameloft did state that there will be plenty more free DLCs coming in the future that will add more characters, items, quests, and bonuses to the valley.
