The first update for Guild Wars 2: Secrets of the Obscure titled Through the Veil, the first post-launch free addition for the MMO, will be released on November 7. There are plenty of new things to see and experience in the upcoming expansion including a never-before-seen map, more activities, and encounters for you to explore. One of the many new areas is the Realm of Dreams and it’s not all unicorns and rainbows.
What is included in Guild Wars 2: Through the Veil?
Navos is the newest map for you to venture through in Through the Veil. There you’ll find the Realm of Dreams and the demon Kryptis as they continue their invasion of Tyria. Along with the map, you’ll gain a new mastery track that is linked to a new encounter known as Convergences.
- Convergences: Convergences are large-scale rifts where you’ll join a group of up to 50 other players in defeating monsters and threats in the world.
- Wizard’s Vault: The Vault will be getting refreshed, giving you access to the following rewards and more:
- Three unique armor pieces
- One new infusion
You’ll also uncover new relics and a more difficult challenge mode for the Cosmic Observatory. As well as gain access to a Legacy Rewards tab where you’ll find cosmetic rewards for your characters.
Through the Veil is free to owners of the previous expansion.
When does Guild Wars 2: Through the Veil release?

As another benefit to the free update, players who own the expansion will be getting more free content later in November and through 2024. You’ll be able to try out a new weapon and even demo the upcoming expansion weapon proficiencies and provide ArenaNet with feedback.
The expansion will continue to release additional content at no additional charge to expansion players into 2024. On November 28, players will get their first chance to try out a new weapon in their favorite profession. In advance of the next major expansion update, players will have a chance to demo the upcoming expanded weapon proficiencies feature and provide feedback. This special beta event will run from November 28 until December 3.
