The Fallout 4 London mod is a highly anticipated mod from Team FOLON that fans have been anticipating for what feels like an eternity. When the official release date for the mod was announced for April 23, 2024, fans rejoiced. Unfortunately, this has since changed and it is primarily due to the announcement of the Fallout 4 next-gen update which is set to be released on April 25, 2024. According to the team behind the London update, this next-gen upgrade will break the mod if they release it before the update goes live.
Team FOLON released a video explaining why they have decided to delay the project. In the video, Team Folon project lead Dean Carter states that they have “been tweaking and testing non-stop in order to get things as stable as we can for you all in time for that release.” Unfortunately, with the next-gen update being released shortly after, many of the systems they have in place “will break.”
For instance, Carter explained that “systems based on F4SE [the framework behind the dialogue system in Fallout London] will break.” He also stated, “Our updated UI, with many of the cool new features within the quests and the perk systems, will also break.” With that being said, it seems as though the next-gen update will break a large chunk of the mod and make it unplayable.
Team FOLON has reached out to the teams behind the systems but as Dean put it, the fixes are “out of our control” and they could “fix it first day, in a week, or in a month.” This update clearly hurts the project lead as well as the entirety of Team FOLON. Dean Carter stated, “It pains me and the team because we have to twiddle our thumbs and see when we can get this out to you guys.” Hopefully, we can get the Fallout 4 London mod quickly but it is good to know that the team is working to get it out as soon as they can.
